What a special couple Christine + Casey are, and they’re especially special to me
Christine’s family is practically family to my husband and I. We spend holidays with them, we travel with them, and we LOVE them like crazy!
So when Christine and Casey got engaged- a surprise proposal that I photographed, too, of course- they asked me to shoot their wedding. A huge part of me was so excited because I knew that with how detail oriented and girly-glamorous Christine is, it’s going to be an amazing wedding. But, I didn’t want to miss out on the fun and being in the moments of their wedding while I’m busy “working” so I decided to be a guest instead. Lucky for me, though, they still wanted me to photograph their engagement portraits and I could not wait. Being a teacher, Christine has a really busy schedule during the school year; and Casey was still living in Austin so he stayed busy enough just traveling back and forth to be with Christine when he could; so they definitely wanted to shoot their engagement portraits during the summer while they had some time off.
Problem: the summer in Houston is terrible! It’s hot, it’s humid, there’s mosquitos everywhere and no body looks cute or happy when their sweating. Solution: let’s go somewhere that’s nice in the summer! Christine’s family has a lake home in Minocqua, Wisconsin- where the summer just so happens to be an absolutely perfect 70-something degrees, with no humidity, and no mosquitos, and breathtaking views of a tree lined lake. Yes! Why not some gorgeous Wisconsin engagement portraits?!? So we all headed to Minocqua, Wisconsin for some lakeside fun, a little escape from the summer heat, and shot some pretty fantastic engagement portraits while we were at it.
Maybe best of all, after we spent the days fishing, waterskiing, and taking some portraits- we sat around a fire by the lake until the stars came out at night!
